What: Prep is an eight week, mathematics-based academic enrichment program. Prep helps students prepare for careers in the fields of mathematics, science, technology, and engineering. The program includes course work, team projects, class presentations, examinations, career awareness, speakers, field trips, and special events. Prep is presented over the course of three summer. Students reapply each year. High school elective credit is awarded depending on the school district.
When: June 6, 2005- July 29, 2005
Where: The University of Texas of El Paso
Cost: Services are free!
Special Help: We hope to be able to offer free lunch daily, if eligible for the Summer Food Service Program.
Transportation: Students are responsible for their own transportation arrangements.
Prep Requirements:
Middle School Students
-90 average in mathematics class (80 or better if honors or advanced placement)
-85 or better overall average
-Satisfactory conduct grades
High School Students
-80 average in mathematics class (80 or better if honors or advanced placement)
-80 or better overall average
-Satisfactory conduct grades
Application Requirements:
Along with your application we do require the following items:
-An official copy of your latest report card
-A Letter of Recommendation from a Mathematics Teacher
-A Letter of Recommendation from a Science Teacher or Counselor
-Parental Permission
-A completed essay-see attached form.
