The Center for Research on Educational Reform Awards Research Grants to El Paso Area Teachers
The Center for Research on Educational Reform at the University of Texas at El Paso announced recipients of the fourth annual El Paso Math & Science Partnership (MSP) Action Research Awards for Teachers, sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Eleven teachers received awards of $3000 each to conduct classroom research projects aimed at bolstering achievement in math and science for middle and high school students. Teachers will conduct their research projects during the 2006-2007 academic year with mentoring from a UTEP math or science professor. This award program, one of many initiatives directed by the El Paso MSP, was designed to encourage teachers to reflect on their own teaching practices to improve the teaching and learning of math and science.
