General and Student Papers are solicited on new developments in theory, concept, application, and techniques in all facets of Biomedical Engineering. Attendance and professional paper presentation by individuals from areas outside of the South are encouraged and welcomed. STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION
Undergraduate and graduate students, as well as, medical/dental students and residency candidates are encouraged to submit abstracts. Several student awards will be given to honor the best presentations in each category. Please indicate in your cover letter or email your student status and if you wish your presentation to be included in the student paper competition.

Detailed instructions for preparation of short and extended abstracts are provided on this page. Please click on Short Abstract Submission and Long Abstract Submission buttons on the upper left hand corner of this page. The preferred way for abstract submission is to E-mail or upload your abstracts, or alternatively, mail a copy of your abstracts to Homer Nazeran, PhD. In your E-mail or cover letter please identify the corresponding author with complete mailing address, telephone number and E-mail address.
NEW DEADLINE FOR SHORT ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: JANUARY 31, 2008
After acceptance of the short abstracts, the authors should provide a 2-page extended abstract (4 page extended abstracts will also be considered with an additional printing cost of $50) that will be published in a book entitled Biomedical Engineering, Recent Developments. A sample template for extended abstracts is provided. The short abstracts will be published in the special issue of the International Journal of Medical Implants and Devices.
