Office of Technology Transfer
The Office of Technology Transfer is responsible for management and protection of the intellectual property assets of the university. Our mission is to help turn scientific discovery into tangible products by evaluating disclosures for its patentability and potential commercial possibilities. We work with inventors to develop a licensing strategy and actively recruit companies that might be interested in the invention. If successfully licensed, royalties collected through licensing provide funding for the inventor’s department and colleges as well personal shares for the inventors themselves.Although patentable inventions do constitute the majority of our licensing activities, we also handle copyrights (software), Confidentiality Agreements, and Material Transfer Agreements.
