Great News!

The RISE Grant was renewed for 5 more years Funds were awarded for 35 Undergraduate Research Scholars and 9 Ph.D. Trainees

The main goal of the Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (*RISE) Program at UTEP is to enhance the research experience for students at minority serving institutions.  The overall goal is to increase the interest, skills, and competitiveness of students in pursuit of biomedical research careers.

The RISE Program provides stipends to qualified students in Biological Sciences and Engineering to perform undergraduate research during the academic year.  Working under a faculty mentor, students have opportunities to work in research while attending UTEP and working towards their degree.
RISE undergraduate Research Scholars will receive
up to $3,500 per semester. In addition, summer support (up to $2,500) will be provided if the student continues their research  on campus.  Nine Ph.D. trainees are currently fully funded by the RISE Graduate Scholars Program.   Graduate trainees will also receive funds for tuition and fees.
